Moto Guzzi 850 Café Racer – Frame Modification & Frame Chop

The Moto Guzzi 850 café racer build moves into major fabrication work with the first stage of modifying and chopping the motorcycle frame. This Tink Customs project follows the transformation of a classic Moto Guzzi 850T into a custom café racer, with the frame modification helping establish the new shape, stance and proportions of the finished motorcycle.

Before cutting the frame, we reorganize the garage and prepare the engine and chassis for the work ahead. The episode also covers cleaning the Moto Guzzi engine, fitting air filter pods, considering an oil catch can, removing the centre stand and working on the battery tray. With the motorcycle stripped down, the exhaust system is also prepared for paint and the gear shift lever receives another modification to work with the custom foot control arrangement.

Chopping and modifying a motorcycle frame is a significant part of a custom café racer build, and this is only the first stage of the Moto Guzzi 850 frame transformation. The goal is to create a cleaner and more purposeful custom motorcycle while making sure the new frame design works with the fuel tank, seat, exhaust, foot pegs and other components being developed throughout the build.

Follow the continuing Moto Guzzi 850 café racer project as the frame, engine, controls, bodywork and other parts are progressively modified to create a unique custom Moto Guzzi motorcycle.
