Moto Guzzi 850 Café Racer – Custom Foot Pegs & Gear Shift

The Moto Guzzi 850 café racer build moves into custom motorcycle fabrication with the fitting of custom foot pegs, pedals and a modified gear shift. This stage of the Tink Customs Moto Guzzi 850T project focuses on creating a functional and stylish foot control setup for the new café racer riding position, including adapting the original gear shift lever and shortening the brake pedal.

After checking the original layout using the Moto Guzzi workshop manual, we assemble and position the custom foot pegs before removing the exhaust system to gain access to the mounting points. The original gear shift arrangement then needs to be adapted to work with the new foot peg position, while the brake pedal lever is shortened to suit the custom controls.

This is an important part of transforming the classic Moto Guzzi 850T into a custom café racer. Motorcycle foot peg positioning, rearset-style controls, gear shift linkage, brake pedal modification and exhaust clearance all need to work together while still looking right on the finished motorcycle. This episode follows the practical fabrication and modification work involved in creating those controls rather than simply fitting off-the-shelf parts.

Follow the continuing Moto Guzzi 850 café racer project as the bike is transformed from its original configuration into a unique custom motorcycle, with further fabrication, chassis, bodywork and mechanical modifications still to come.
