Yamaha R6 Fork Swap on a Kawasaki KZ650

The 1977 Kawasaki KZ650 Cafe Racer gets a Yamaha R6 front-end upgrade as we remove the original forks and begin fitting the R6 forks to the Kawasaki.

We strip down the original front end, remove the yoke and forks, inspect the ball race bearings and test fit the Yamaha R6 forks. The swap looks promising until we get to the final top bearing, where things get a little more complicated.

A front-end swap is a major part of this KZ650 cafe racer build, changing both the suspension and the overall look of the motorcycle.
