Kawasaki KZ650 Regulator Rectifier & Electrical Rewiring
The 1977 Kawasaki KZ650 Cafe Racer gets a major electrical update as we fit a combined regulator-rectifier, rework the wiring and simplify the bike's main power and engine kill switch setup.
The original electrical arrangement is replaced with a combined regulator-rectifier, with the wiring modified to suit the new setup. We also combine the main power and kill switch functions into a single switch to create a cleaner and more practical control arrangement.
There's also a look at ideas for the custom LED headlight, installation and testing of the GPS speedometer, and general electrical testing as we work through the KZ650's wiring. This is another important stage in converting the original electrical system into something better suited to the finished cafe racer.
The result is a cleaner, more modern electrical setup while retaining the functionality needed to make the KZ650 a usable custom motorcycle.
