Kawasaki KZ650 Fuel Petcock Overhaul | Cafe Racer

The 1977 Kawasaki KZ650 Cafe Racer gets a fuel petcock overhaul after the fuel tap becomes blocked by old fuel residue from years of sitting in the tank.

With fuel not flowing when the petcock is turned to the ON position, we strip down the original Kawasaki fuel tap to investigate the problem. The petcock is cleaned, the fuel filter is checked and replacement parts are sourced to get the assembly working properly again.

Finding a complete genuine replacement kit proves difficult, so a selection of correctly sized nitrile O-rings is used instead. The new seals are fitted before the petcock is reassembled, providing a relatively simple solution to a common problem on older motorcycles that have been left standing with fuel in the tank.

The video also includes a quick look at the side-panel grills and a rather unexpected paper-airplane detour before returning to the KZ650 fuel system.
