Kawasaki KZ650 Custom Candy Paint Fuel Tank

The 1977 Kawasaki KZ650 Cafe Racer gets its custom paint job as we prepare the fuel tank, side panels and tail piece for a candy teal finish over a metallic base coat.

With the bodywork stripped and prepared, the parts are repeatedly sanded, primed and cleaned before the paint goes on. We also modify the original side panels to suit the custom cafe racer design before spraying the metallic base coat and building up the candy color.

The candy teal is applied over the silver base to create the deep, translucent finish, with the parts finally ready for a 2K gloss clearcoat. This is a major visual stage in the KZ650 build and brings the custom color scheme to life.
