Honda CB750 Cafe Racer Frame Fabrication

The 1979 Honda CB750 Cafe Racer build continues, and this time we're getting stuck into the frame fabrication. With the rear end of the bike taking shape, this episode covers fitting the rear frame hoop, welding the new rear shock mounts and shortening the frame to accommodate the new cafe racer seat.

There's plenty of welding and grinding along the way — including some welds that definitely need a bit of attention! This is a real garage build, with the fabrication, mistakes and learning all part of the process.

We also fit a new front sprocket, remove the sprocket cover, start developing ideas for the bike's eventual paint scheme and prepare the rear end for dismantling.

And, because apparently one Honda CB750 isn't enough, there's another rather questionable Honda for sale at the end of the episode!

Honda CB750 Frame Fabrication

The rear section of the original CB750 frame is being transformed to give the bike a much cleaner Cafe Racer profile.

The new rear hoop helps establish the shape of the seat and tail section, while the rear shock mounts are fabricated and welded into position. The frame is also shortened to suit the new seat design.

It's a great example of the kind of fabrication involved in turning an older Honda CB750 into a custom Cafe Racer rather than simply bolting on aftermarket parts.
