Fitting Plug Leads, Switches and LED Headlight

The Ducati Monster 695 café racer build continues with custom motorcycle electrical work including relocated ignition coils, a repositioned regulator/rectifier, new HT ignition leads and rewiring for custom handlebar switches.

This stage of the Ducati Monster café racer project is all about cleaning up and reorganizing the electrical system as the bike moves towards its final custom configuration. The ignition coils are relocated together under the seat, requiring new wiring and longer HT ignition leads to reach the spark plugs. The regulator/rectifier is also repositioned to work with the new layout, while a new battery is fitted as the electrical system starts to come together.

The original handlebar switchgear is dismantled and rewired to work with new custom LED push-button switches. With no wiring diagram to hand, the existing Ducati wiring has to be traced and worked through to establish what goes where.

New motorcycle lighting is also introduced, including LED switches and LED headlights, helping to create the cleaner electrical and minimalist appearance planned for the finished café racer.

There is also an attempt to charge the completely dead battery in parallel, although that doesn't go quite according to plan. Meanwhile, the MV Agusta makes a brief return to the workshop and is finally running again.

This episode of the Ducati Monster 695 custom motorcycle build brings a major part of the electrical work together while continuing to simplify and relocate components for the finished café racer.
