BMW K75 Cafe Racer Mono Shock Install
The BMW K75 cafe racer gets a major chassis upgrade with a new horizontal monoshock. This custom motorcycle build involves removing the original BMW K75 shock absorber, modifying the rear frame, welding, smoothing the finished work and preparing the frame for paint.
Installing a horizontal monoshock is one of the more significant changes to this BMW K75 cafe racer build. The original rear suspension has to come out before the frame can be modified to accommodate the new shock arrangement.
The video starts with assembling the new monoshock and preparing the bike for removal of the original BMW K75 shock absorber. Once the old shock is out, the rear frame can be modified and the new mounting arrangement tested.
There is a little welding involved, followed by plenty of cleaning up. The weld is ground back and then JB Weld is used to help achieve a smooth finish before the area is finally worked over with a mini grinder.
With the new horizontal monoshock test fitted, the last remaining section of the old frame can be chopped away. The modified frame is then painted, ready for the next stage of this BMW K75 custom motorcycle build.
This is all part of the ongoing Tink Customs BMW K75 cafe racer project, documenting the process of turning a BMW K75 into a custom cafe racer, including frame modifications, suspension, fabrication, bodywork, electrics and the other work involved in building a motorcycle from the ground up.
