How I Saved 100lbs on My BMW K75 Cafe Racer
One of the biggest challenges with the BMW K75 is its weight. The original bike was built for comfort, practicality and long-distance riding — but that's not quite what we're aiming for with this cafe racer.
In this episode, the focus is on stripping away unnecessary weight and simplifying the bike. The factory ABS system comes out, the battery gets replaced with a much lighter alternative, the original footpegs are removed and the exhaust is reworked.
There are also some bigger changes taking shape, including the cafe racer belly pan, seat frame chop, fuel tank modifications and rearsets.
The goal isn't simply to make the numbers on the scales look better. A lighter BMW K75 should feel sharper, more responsive and more purposeful — exactly what we're looking for from this custom cafe racer.
In this episode
- Fitting rearsets
- Cafe racer belly pan
- Seat frame chop
- Customizing the fuel tank
- Removing the ABS ECU
- Lightweight battery conversion
- Coolant overflow tank
- Removing the factory footpegs
- Custom motorcycle exhaust
- BMW K75 ABS delete
- Reducing weight on the K75 cafe racer
This is another major step in transforming the BMW K75 from a heavy factory motorcycle into the lighter, cleaner cafe racer we're building.
