BMW K75 Cafe Racer Tear Down | K75 Custom Build

With the BMW K75 won in a poker game and the build plan taking shape, it's time to start taking the bike apart. This is where the cafe racer project really begins. The BMW K75 gets a thorough tear down while I start making decisions about what stays, what goes and what needs to be modified along the way.

There's a bit of everything in this stage of the build — firing the K75 up without its mufflers, disconnecting the ECU, looking at custom paint ideas, questioning the tire setup and deciding what to do with the ABS system.

Then the real work starts.

The front brakes come apart, the exhaust headers are removed, velocity stacks are considered, and eventually the motorcycle frame gets its first major chop. Rearsets are also fitted as the riding position starts to take shape.

The aim is to turn this unusual BMW into a clean, purposeful K75 cafe racer without losing what makes the bike interesting in the first place.
